Petrified Forest National Park and the Painted Desert
On my way from New Mexico to Arizona I was driving right by Petrified Forest National Park so I thought I stop by for a quick visit. Yeah, right? I was there for 3 hours. What an incredible introduction to the majesty I knew I'd be seeing with the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, etc. in the days ahead. I truly didn't expect how beautiful this drive turned out to be. Little did I know!
I got there before 8:00 a.m. and was surprised to find everything open. The park is over 230 square miles with a 27 mile long road taking you through some of the most beautiful land I have ever seen. The photos speak for themselves:

Wow!!!
I just love the layers of sedimentary rock!
This is the petrified wood part of the drive. Some of the pieces are a long as a car and several fee across. They are so colorful close up and they are just littered over this huge area.
He blended right in!
I had never met anyone who had stopped at the Petrified Forest and I only stopped because I was driving by anyway. Take my advice! Stop and visit the multicolored landscape of the Painted Desert. It is SO worth every moment!
I love your love of life . Another thing we share in common
