Kentucky....My first day did not disappoint!

What a beautiful state! My first stop in Kentucky was the Woodford Reserve Distillery and, WOW, the drive there was exactly what I imagined driving through central Kentucky would be. It is so green and lush with rolling hills, perfect fences, horses galloping along....it's all there!!!

Time to get my first bourbon tour!

Learned so many cool things about the making of bourbon and why the limestone water is so important in Kentucky bourbon. They say the water is the reason so many Triple Crown winners are from Kentucky.

I left Woodford with bottles of bourbon in hand and made my way to the next stop...Buffalo Trace Distillery.

I didn't do a tour but did get to partake in a tasting. It was both fun and informative. I got to try some new things and had some fun conversation with people from Colorado, Florida and Tennessee.

I then drove to my hotel room, took a quick shower and drove into Louisville for dinner at Milkwood and a walk around downtown. It was raining off and on but it was so quiet for a Sunday night. Is Louisville a city that is quiet on weekends?

I took a walk toward the Ohio River then along Main Street down Whiskey and Museum Row.

Statue of David at the beginning of Museum Row.

My first trip selfie hangin' with Charles Farnsley.

I'd say, from my first day in Kentucky, that this is a place you should visit if you have a chance. Tomorrow, Mammoth Cave!!
